The National Fishing in the Schools Program is a nationwide, all-inclusive, in-school program that provides teachers with training, curriculum, equipment, and online support to help you teach your students about rivers and river conservation through fly fishing. Designed to be taught by teachers during the regular school day, this program makes it easy to learn and teach fly fishing to elementary, middle and high school students, whether you are an experienced angler or picking up a rod for the first time.
HOW THIS WORKS: This is a hybrid teacher workshop!
ONLINE: Teachers must complete online training by October 3 - at your own pace and availability (about 4 hours total). Certificate provided upon completion.
IN-PERSON: On Friday, October 4 from 8:30am-12:30pm, NFSP certified teacher trainers will provide an in-person, hands-on conclusion training at Longfellow Elementary School in Salida, CO.
Both the online and in-person training are required to utilize the free fishing kits from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Roaring Fork Conservancy educators are certified teacher-trainers for the NFSP Level 1 Teacher Training.
