David grew up in the Atlanta area and has lived in Colorado since 2002.  In 2017, he moved to Basalt with his wife, Melissa, and son who attends Basalt Middle School.  David has a BS in Management from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Denver with a concentration in finance, economics, and leadership.   David has worked in the technology business for over 20 years in various leadership roles.  Since joining the Basalt Town Council in 2020, he has served on several boards including for Roaring Fork Conservancy, Roaring Fork Transportation Authority, Basalt Victim and Witness Assistance and Law Enforcement Board, and Colorado Communities for Climate Action.   David served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2022 - 2024 and is currently serving as Mayor.  Once a music major during his early college years, he still enjoys writing music and playing drums and piano.  You can also find David volunteering with his son’s Cub Scout pack as well as biking, skiing, sailing, and traveling with family and friends.
